“In the works of this new series” IN SEARCH OF THE ESSENTIAL (5 works in cover photo) “the artist seems to catch sight of the way…” … a new path, which once again prompts me to change my approach to the canvas, representing a further departure from the pictorial-technical ‘schemas’ that I feel the need to override rather than re-propose, because I believe that if I were to re-propose these schemas, pure and proper though they may be, it might condition and contaminate the result of the ‘infinite’ process of my inner search.
This is a constant ‘breaking free’ from the comfort of ‘certainty’ for the sake of being enriched with the discovery of that which is ‘uncertain’ and, at the same time, surprisingly ‘new’ and ‘different’ … a blank sheet on which to begin writing new words without curbing creativity.
It is a new path with the same goal: ‘containment-essence-deprivation’.
The material chosen for the canvas is jute, a poor, rough material made of a NATURAL textile fibre.
There is a predominant use of the achromatic WHITE, characterized by a high degree of brightness and no tint whatsoever (deprivation), and its opposite, BLACK, representing the total absence (deprivation) of colour. These two ‘achromatic colours’ symbolise the light/dark contrast in Taoist philosophy, to the point of being integrated into the symbol of the Tao itself, showing that there is no separation but that each one interpenetrates the other in a continuous cycle that is essential to the search for oneself, thus pointing out the way to inner exploration.
The use of chromatic colours is limited (but not excluded; I do not wish to deprive myself completely of colour as it influences my physical, mental and emotional state).
The size of the canvases, which this time is significant, represents my need to lose myself in and merge with the work, while also leaving empty, apparent incomplete spaces.
Wait a few seconds before the opening of the works.
